In Memoriam „Austria´s First GCE47“
Ein Cache zu Ehren des ersten Caches in Österreich, der auf der
Niedere gelegt und am 30. Juni 2001 veröffentlicht wurde.
Deutsch:
Nach langen Nachforschungen und reiflicher Vorbereitungszeit, war
es Ende 2009 endlich soweit. Wir konnten stolz diesen legendären
Punkt wieder reaktivieren. Dieser Punkt erinnert an den ersten in
Österreich gelegten Cache "Austria´s First" der am 30. Juni
2001 veröffentlicht und am 2. Februar 2004 leider archiviert wurde.
Mittlerweile gibt es in Österreich ca 13000 aktive Caches.
Um diesen historischen Punkt nicht in Vergessenheit geraten zu
lassen, wurde hier exakt an den Koordinaten der alten Location ein
offizielles Geocache Denkmal gesetzt.
Am besten erreicht man die Niedere, wo sich der Cache befindet, mit
der Seilbahn von Andelsbuch oder Bezau, aber auch zu Fuß ist die
Niedere in ca 2,5 Stunden erreichbar. Ein großes Dankeschön gilt
dem Grundstücksbesitzer Feuerstein Leo, der uns die Erlaubnis zur
Errichtung des Memorial gegeben hat.

After long investigations and careful preparations, it is now done.
We are proud to reactivate this legendary point. This point
reminiscent of the first Cache in Austria "Austria´s First GCE47" published on
June 30, 2001 and unfortunately been archived on February 2, 2004.
In the meanwhile there are about 13.000 active Caches in
Austria.
That this historic place will not be forgotten, we set a official
geocache monument exactly at the coordinates of the old
location.
The best way to go on the Niedere, where the cache is located, is
by cable car from Andelsbuch or Bezau, but it´s also available by a
hike in about 2,5 hours. |

On July 3, 2011 a lot of Geocachers celebrated the 10 years
anniversary of Geocaching in Austria with an ATTAF-Event. Also
Jeremy Irish (President Groundspeak) and stash-lab (Reviewer
Germany) were with us. We had a great day.
