Een korte wip in de rosse buurt, zeker minder dan een uur (aannemende dat je niet ergens naar binnen gaat......) Samen met de multi-cache Hofjes in de Jordaan de multi-cache met veruit de meeste favorite points in Amsterdam en omstreken!! Kan overdag, maar 's avonds nog leuker.
A short walk in the famous Red Light District that can be done easily within the hour (assuming that you do not enter one of the houses........) Together with the multi-cache Alsmshouses in the Jordaan the multi-cache with by far the most favorite points in the Amsterdam area!! Can be done in daylight, but even better in the dark!
Deze cache begint op het plein voor het centraal station. Een bijzonder gebouw. Kijk maar eens naar de klokken. Welke tijd geeft de linker klok aan?
This cache starts at the square in front of the Central station. A special building. Look at the clocks at the station, which time is indicated by the left clock?
The rosse buurt (de wallen) is vlak bij het centraal station gelegen en is een van de oudste delen van Amsterdam. Loop eerst richting Hotel Victoria en dan richting onderstaande foto.
The red-light district is close to the Central Station and is one of the oldest parts of Amsterdam. Walk to Hotel Victoria and turn left to walk to the building on the picture below.

Kijk onderweg uit met oversteken, het kan hier druk zijn! Op weg naar dat waypoint kom je over een brug met links en rechts blauwe schotten. Hier wordt de Noord-Zuidlijn aangelegd. Een ambitieus project met veel problemen omgeven. Het duurt al jaren en kost miljarden euro's en levert vele ergernissen op. Het gaat ook nog wel jaren duren en meer miljarden kosten en ik vermoed ook nog wel wat ergernissen.
Je bent hier op de kop van de Zeedijk. Het begin van het wereldberoemde rosse buurt. Overal in de wereld wordt de kleur rood gebruikt voor de sex-industrie. Dat is ontstaan in Nederland, omdat de prostituees geen licht mochten maken en daarom de lampen onder hun rokken hielden. Dat gaf een rode gloed.
Er woonden veel Chinezen op de Zeedijk en omstreken (de Chinese wijk). Het is nog te zien aan de straatnaambordjes. Het aantal Chinese karakters voor Zeedijk = A
Look out crossing the road, it can be dangerous here. On your way, you will pass a bridge with left and right blue fences. Here the North-South-line is being constructed, A subwaysystem. An ambitious project that encountered a lot of problems already. It is taking years, it costs a lot of money and people are annoyed by it. It will take years to finish the project!
You are now at 'the head of the Zeedijk". The beginning of the worldfamous red-light district. Everywhere in the world, the color red is used for the Sex-industry. It originated in Holland, because prostitutes were not allowed to use lights. Therefore, they put lamps under their skirts. That gave a red glow.
Also a lot of Chinese people live in this area. (China Town). You can see it on the street signs. The number of Chinese characters you can see on the street sign Zeedijk? = A

Je staat hier op een brug over de Oude-Zijds Kolk. Zichtbaar zijn een aantal gevelstenen, zeer karakteristiek voor Amsterdam, je ziet ze op veel plaatsen. Alle gevelstenen zijn weer anders. Kijk naar het zuiden. Je ziet er een rechts en twee links. Uit welk jaar is de de gevelsteen links het dichtstbij?, Laatste cijfer van het antwoord = B.
Als dat onleesbaar is, neem dan de waarde B=3*3

Je staat hier op de Nieuwmarkt, bij het gebouw de Waag. Als je zin en geld hebt: je kunt hier lekker eten. Als je om je heen kijkt zie je, met de Waag in je rug, de Bloedstraat. Op de hoek van de straat staat het Gewaegt cafe, Nieuwstraat nummer 16. Hoeveel ramen boven de luifel heeft het huis op Nieuwmarkt nummer 16? Neem dat aantal voor C.
You are now at the Nieuwmarkt, near the building "de Waag". You can have nice lunches and dinners here (if you have enough money). Look around, with you back to "the Waag" you can see the Bloedstraat (Bloodstreet). On the left of that street is Gewaegt cafe, Nieuwmarkt 16. How many windows has this building above the canopy/sunshade? That is value C.

De straat waar je net doorheen liep is afhankelijk van het tijdstip van de dag drukker of minder druk. Je ziet hieronder een foto van weer een gevelsteen. Die gevelsteen zit op een huis met een heel toepasselijk huisnummer. Dat huisnummer = DE.

Ga rechtsaf naar/Go right to waypoint 5: N 52°22.432’ – E 004°53.871’
Je staat hier bij de Oude Kerk. Een grote kerk in het centrum van Amsterdam. The red-light district staat ook bekend om zijn kerken. er is hier in de buurt ook een schattig kerkje: "Onze Lieve Heer op solder", een schuilkerk uit de tijd dat katholieken verboden werd naar de kerk te gaan. Zeker de moeite waard om eens een keer te bezoeken. In vroeger tijden was de Oude kerk een belangrijk toevluchtsoord voor mensen en de rechten op kerkelijk grondgebied waren anders dan op straat. Daar is veel gebruik van gemaakt. De kleine steentjes om de kerk geven het gebied van de Oude kerk aan. Er werden veel baby's te vondeling gelegd op die gekleurde steentjes direct rond de kerk, want dan werd door de kerk gezorgd voor opvang en die was veel beter dan de niet kerkelijke opvang voor baby's. De positie in het alfabet van de eerste letter van de kleur van die steentjes = F
Neem F=7 als je niet kunt ontdekken dat het gele steentjes zijn;-}
Je staat hier ook op een klein koperen kunstwerk. Een hand op een borst. Het sterke gerucht doet de ronde dat dit kunstwerk is gemaakt door koningin Beatrix. Officieel is dat echter nooit bevestigd.
You are now near "de oude kerk" (the Old Church), a very old and big Church in the centre of Amsterdam. The Red-light district is famous for its churches. Nearby there is a little Church "Onze Lieve Heer op Solder" (The Lord in the attic), which is a hidden church from times that Catholic religion was forbidden. Worthwhile to visit if you have time for it!
In the past, the Old Church was a refuge. The small stones around the church were church property. Foundlings were placed on these stone, because the church took care of them, better then others. Add the two digits together of the position in the alphabet of the first letter of the color of the stones = F
Take F=7 if you cannot detect that the color of the stones is yellow ;-)

Je bent nu op de Warmoesstraat, een van de hoofdstraten in dit gedeelte van de stad. Vroeger was hier een politiebureau gevestigd, dat is echter verdwenen. The Red-light district lijkt soms bedreigend, maar er is in feite weinig criminaliteit. Misschien omdat weinig mensen op elkaar letten, maar op wat er te zien is in de etalages..... Op een terrasje gaan zitten en een zien en luisteren en mensen kijken: hier erg goed te doen.
You are now at the Warmoesstraat, one of the main streets in this part of town. There used to be a policestation here, but it has been abandoned. The red-light district might seem threatening, in fact there is little crime. Maybe because people are not watching each other, but what goes on behind the window!......... Sit down on a terrace, listen and look at the people. That is a nice thing to do here.

Je staat hier op de hoek van de Heintje Hoeksteeg, Vaak genoemd in de boeken van Baantjer, met de hoofdrolspelers De Cock en Dick Vledder. Cafe Lowietje is ook op een hoek maar niet hier. Er zit hier wel een café dichtbij, wat is de naam van dit café?
Helaas is ook dit café weer verdwenen. Je krijgt dus G van mij: 2.
