Geocache Description:

This is a small size traditional type cache in a newly purchased extension of Washington's Crossing State Park. The park is located on George Washington Road off of Goat Hill Road in West Amwell Township.

The entrance to the park will be on your left after coming from Goat Hill Road. The newly purchased park is not well marked except for some small "state park boundry signs right along the road. The Entrance gate itself is made of wood and surrounded by a bunch of mailboxes. Drive right up through the gate and to the parking lot on the left side of the driveway. From there you must follow the driveway past and around another gate (on foot) and up the hill to the coordinates listed below for the Washington Rock Trail, where you will see a well defined trail heading out to the left side of the driveway. This leads to Washington Rock. The cache is located nearby. The area was used as a lookout point by General George Washington and British General Charles Cornwallis to scout for things such as troop movements. The 213 acre park was purchased using State Green Acres' Crossroads of the Revolution Initiative Funds. It was formerly a Boy Scout Camp until 1983 when it was purchased by a mining company that in turn sold it to the state just recently (October 2009). After finding the cache, why not enjoy an even better overlook located all the way at the end of the driveway at the top of the hill. This is known as Goat Hill Overlook. It has a spectacular view of the Lambertville and New Hope, PA area. Enjoy!! Please try and trade world coins if possible. Other swag that will fit is OK too! PLEASE BE CAREFUL NEAR THE OVERLOOKS DUE TO STEEP DROPS AND SLIPPERY ROCKS! (TERRAIN 2.5)
