When placing this cache, I spent most of the day in the park. Momma
always said that proper preparation prevents poor picnics so I
spent time getting everything ready. I spent $4.24 for drinks,
$1.29 for ice, and $5.41 for snacks. The tax was 8.25%. I just knew
I would burn lots of calories on my hike, so I wasn't a bit
hesitant to get a Baskin & Robbins ice cream cone costing $2.58
on the way to the park. My primary mission that day was to put out
this new cache. It's a soda tube tethered to a tree using sturdy
120# test line. That's 1.2 x 10^2 for you engineering types.
Anyway, I figured that if I made the hide a puzzle rather than a
traditional cache, only 16.6% of the area's cachers would actually
find it. I like a good challenge. I found a parking spot around
2.26 miles from my intended ground zero. After making the hike, I
drank around $2.12 worth of water and then carefully placed the
cache in its hiding spot. There were no mugglers anywhere around,
so I think this cache should last for at least 6 months without
being disturbed. I then decided to take a more scenic route back to
the cachemobile. The hike out was 3.47 miles but I stopped along
the way to eat my snacks and finish the rest of my water. Good
hydration is important. The only down side is that I found 3 ticks,
but that's just part of a day in the park. The total cost for the
day was well worth it for the amount of exercise and fun I had. I
estimate that I burned around 1248 calories.
