Geocache Description:

NORTH OF MOUNTAIN HOME ARKANSAS OFF OF STATE HWY 201 NORTH ON A WOODED HILL IN US ARMY CORP OF ENG. PARK AREA. ALTITUDE IS 800 FT . MUST WALK IN ABOUT 1/2 MILE FROM ROADWAY

US ARMY 50 CAL AMMO CAN. GREEN IN COLOR. CD AND VIDEO TAPE. BINOCULARS, SCOPE, COIN, GOODIES. THIS CACHE HAS BEEN FOUND MANY TIMES AND WILL PROVIDE A GOOD AFTERNOON OUTING FOR YOUR FAMILY. HAVE A GREAT DAY. After 10 years this Cache has proven it's worth. Hi. I'm JR. KP is my youngest son. We placed this cache together as a father/son project. Actually this was supposed to be our second cache... thus the KP # 2. KP #1 was never placed as the property where we we going to place it was sold and we could not locate the new owner for permission to place it. We picked this spot as we had been squirrel hunting in the area and stopped to rest in the area of the cache location. Looking in a southern direction we marveled at the beauty of the lake and mountains. We are extremely proud that we can call this area our Mountain Home and we are proud that you have come to enjoy it with us. For those who have not visited , you are welcome to come and share one of the most beautiful places on earth. And as far as KP #1, I will renew my efforts to place this cache also. Would you believe ... it is better than this one ? Have a great day. JR 2/8/2011 ... Update 7/3/2014......... Yesterday a fellow Geocdacher from Canada posted that they encountered "ticks" while in the woods that about covered them up..... so everyone going out this time of year should consider taking some OFF or repelant with DEET to repel this critters... PS if you thought you had problems with Ticks... by now you must have realized that the Ticks were running away from the "Chiggers"... and the Chiggers have become your worst nightmare.... A capful of Clorox bleach in a full bath tub of water. and soak for 20 minutes should help unless you have allready scratched them raw..... You have bears in Canada... we have chiggers in Arkansas !! Happy hunting... JR Update Jan 5, 2020 nearly 20 years later... After nearly 20 years KP and I decided that now was as good a time as any to revisit the cache that we set out so long ago. It was a beautiful day.... so armed with my trusty Garmin CPS with new batteries we headed out. Of course we had no problem finding it... left our own log entry before heading back after taking a few pictures to add to the gallery. Thanks to everyone for making this one of the most sought after and oldest caches in this part of the state. JR.& KP May 11,2021 Update on entry. The park road floods with high water and the Corp of Engineers will close the roadway when it does. There is no other drive access to the cache. Coming in from the north requires going over private property which is posted with No Trespassing signs. So just wait for another day to visit it if the water is high.
