Geocache Description:

Micro cache and dash on the A419. At the junction of two rights of way so suitable for caching by car, bike, horse or on foot.

The cache is located at the summit of the Sapperton railway tunnels. It is rumoured that there was once a prison in the vacinity of this cache location which is now long gone, possibly burried under spoil heaps created when digging the railway and canal tunnels. Please comment in your log if you can shed any light on this subject. There is parking for a couple of cars at the side of the road. Be aware that the railway tunnel portals are only partly fenced from the footpath on which the cache is to be found- don't let childern stray. Vehicular rights along the byway have not been confirmed but a motorbike and Land Rover were encountered whilst hiding the cache. There is also an OS Bench Mark further along the footpath for anyone that way inclined. The cache is similar to a 35mm film container containing a log and pencil. This cache is approximately 75meters from a milestone on the A419 and has been added to the "Milestones in UK near caches" bookmark list. For further information on Milestones, please visit the Milestone Society website http://www.milestonesociety.co.uk/ The "Milestones in UK near caches" bookmark list can be found here: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=ccc5d062-8a4c-47b0-af44-38c1387a2b2c and is maintained by fellow cacher flipflopnick
