Die Dr. VogelGEsang-Klamm ist mit 1,5 km die längste begehbare Klamm Oberösterreichs bzw. die zweitlängste Österreichs. Glattgeschliffene Felswände, wildromantische Wasserfälle, stürzende Wasser, moosbedeckte Felsen und finstere Schluchten machen die Klamm zu einer besonderen Attraktion für Eltern und Kinder. Bezwungen wird die Dr. Vogelgesang-Klamm mittels 500 Holz- und Steinstufen sowie Holzstegen.
Bereits im Jahr 1906 (!) wurde die Klamm bei Spital am Pyhrn durch den Gemeindearzt Dr. Moritz Vogelgesang für die damaligen Sommerfrischler zum Teil erschlossen. Da er auch Obmann des Verschönerungsvereins war, bemühte er sich sehr um die Begehbarmachung - weshalb sie seinen Namen trägt!

Es gibt hier auch noch den Earthcache und wer anschließend noch weiterwandern will, kann ihn ideal erweitern mit Pyhrgasgatterl (+2 h, +300 Hm) oder sogar auf den höchsten Gipfel in der Gegend, Pyhrgas der Große
Der GPS-Empfang ist in der Klamm lausig bis nicht vorhanden. Daher dienen die GPS-Koordis der Stages nur grob zur Orientierung und der Cache lässt sich mit Unterstützung durch Hint und Spoilerfoto finden. Ich empfehle, das GPS schon bei der Anfahrt einzuschalten und durch die Klamm nie aus zu schalten, damit sich das GPS nicht den Satellitenkontakt verliert.
Vom Parkplatz marschiert ihr gute 10 Minuten neben dem lebendigen Bach bis zum Häuschen am Eingang der Klamm, wo ihr den Erhaltungsbeitrag zahlt.
STAGE 1

Werft direkt nach dem Häuschen euren Blick durch das Naturschaufenster Dr. Vogelgesang-Klamm. Rechnet euch die Höhendifferenz Abstieg-Aufstieg aus und bildet die Quersumme (= ZWITSCHER)
STAGE 2

nach S1 könnt ihr euch ganz auf die wunderbare Wasserwelt in der Klamm konzentrieren. S2 taucht erst relativ weit oben auf, wenn die Schlucht wieder breiter wird.
Der Holzsteg/-stufen gehen zu Ende, ihr betretet wieder festen Waldboden. Rechts eine Sitzbank und auf dieser eine Plakette. Wieviele Buchstaben hat das längste Wort der drei Zeilen der Plakette? (= PIEP)
STAGE 3
Ihr erreicht ein kurze Abzweigung vom Hauptweg Richtung "Wasserfall". Ein letztes Mal stürzt sich der Klammbach direkt unter euren Füssen mit Getöse in die Tiefe! Wer zwitschert denn dort über dem Halsbandschnäpper? Lege dessen 1. Buchstaben gemäß Alphabet um (A=1, B=2,..) (= TSCHIRP)

Achtung: Der Cache ist NICHT in steilem Gelände! Nehmt auch den Hint und Spoilerfoto zu Hilfe, da der Empfang in der Gegend sprunghaft ist.
Einige Minuten bergauf befindet sich die bewirtschaftete Bosruckhütte, wo ihr nach der Klammwanderung einkehren könnt.
Ins Tal zum Klammparkplatz retour entweder wieder durch Klamm, oder gemütlich parallel zunächst auf der Straße und dann auf einem Waldweg abzweigen.

The Dr. Vogelgesang-Klamm is the 2nd longest gorge of Austria. You will cross it by the help of 500 wooden- and stonesteps. The trail through the gorge was already created in 1906 by the doctor "Moritz Vogelgesang" of Spital am Pyhrn. Hence the trail is named after him.

GPS reception is not very accurate here. So the coordinates are just for orientation, but you can find the Cache by the help of the hint and spoiler photo too! I recommend to switch on your GPS already on your way to the parking lot and don't switch it off while crossing the gorge for best GPS reception.
Start from the the parking lot and walk 10 minutes next to the stream to a small house at the entrance of the trail, where you have to pay the fee.
STAGE 1

Just beind the entrance you'll see an information board. Find "Naturschaufenster: Dr. Vogelgesang-Klamm" and there the 2 values for "Aufstieg: .. m" and "Abstieg: .. m". Calculate the difference of both values and create the cross sum of the result (= ZWITSCHER)
STAGE 2

After S1 you can enjoy the fascinating water world of the gorge. You will reach S2 not before near the end of the gorge, when it is broaden again.
The wooden trail/steps end, you enter forest floor. On the right side is a bench with a small plaque mounted on its back rest. Count the letters of the longest word of the three lines of the plaque! (= PIEP)
STAGE 3
Now you reach a short branch-off of the trail towards "Wasserfall". There the water is falling down below your feet! What bird is tweeting just above "Halsbandschnäpper"? Take its 1st letter and convert it using the alphabet (A=1, B=2, C=3,..) (=TSCHIRP)

Caution: The Cache is NOT hidden in steep or dangerous terrain! Use hint and spoilerphoto because GPS reception is kind of lousy here.
Some minutes upwards the end of the gorge there's alpine hut "Bosruckhütte", where you can celebrate the successfull cache hunt.
Way back: You can cross the gorge again or walk parallel down the street and then enter a marked forest path to the parking lot.
