Geocache Description:

This is one of the strangest locations around the Salton Sea. There were no caches within a couple of miles of here so I figured it was time to add one, if only to draw a few people to this odd place.
This is the town of Salton Sea Beach, and the entire area along the shore of the Salton Sea is littered with wrecks and ruins. The cache is located in an area with some abandoned trailer homes, rotting away in the sun and salt soil.
Obviously people lived in these things at one time, but now it's just a mini ghost town. I guess the Salton Sea rose and flooded the shore here at some time in the past, and the owners abandoned their trailers. Now the sea has retreated again, leaving these abandoned wrecks.
Walk around and go inside the various trailers. Go see the Salton Sea. There are beaches covered with barnacle shells here, half buried picnic tables, dead palm trees, tide lines of dead tilapia, seaside lamps that no longer shine. Explore the town and go visit some of the other wrecks and ruins along the sea shore.
The cache is a camouflaged Altoids tin with only a log, so bring a pen to sign. Hopefully you don't have to wade through any water to get to the cache, there was none here when I placed it. The elevation of the cache is -228ft.
