[ENG] The church was built between 1839 and 1841 at a site which had previously held another church. The tower of the new church was initially built into the roof construction. Parishioners were not happy with this, and in 1901 a big annex and a new tower were put up. Members of the congregation brought stones from their farms for the tower. In 1902 there was internal and external renovation at the church. The organ was purchased in 1903 and was one of the best rural organs in all of Latvia in its day. In place of an altar painting the church has a crucifix, which is the work of an unknown artist and dates back to 1772. The bell of the church was taken away to Russia in 1915, during World War I, and was never brought back. It was a small silver bell with a crack on one side. Older people used to say that it had been purchased during Swedish times, taken down during the Northern War and sank into the Amata river near the Doles homestead of Kosa parish. When times were better, the bell was put back in the church, according to the story. The church bought a new bell in 1932.
