Geocache Description:

This cache forms part of a 5 mile walk around Wisley Village and the surrounding area.

You are looking for a 35mm film cannister with a log and pencil inside.

Watch out for muggles watching from the house nearby.

This cache brings you to Wisley Airfield.

The Airfield was 1st built during the World War 2 and was a grass runway when it was 1st built in 1943. Several farms and houses were cleared to make way for the airfield along with fish ponds and vegetable fields. Elm corner, the houses you have just passed was affected by having the road from Ockham moved and made longer to go around the runway. The footpath you are now on were closed and did not reopen again until September 1985.
After the war the Airfield was used by Vickers and a concrete runway was built to allow jet planes to take off.
Vickers finally moved off the site in 1973 but it was not until 1980 that it was sold back to the pre war owner.
Since been sold back local residents have had to fight to save the site from becoming a waste Incinerator, an executive flight centre, a hotel and golf course, housing and more recently a composting site.
Locals hope that one day it will be returned to farm land, which was 1st promised by the Ministry of Defence in 1943.
From here you can also call off to do GC1TBQT before moving onto Wisley Wander 14.
