If you approach from the south, you will need to add a half star
or so to the terrain rating. Add another if it is wet. There is a
trail, but it follows a knife-edged ridge and descends quite
rapidly. If you approach from the north, the trail is gentle until
the Nettle Creek crossing where it makes a sharp dip to the creek
followed by a short climb back up to an old, overgrown logging
road. At this writing, the trail still needs some work at the
crossing.
There is no mystery why Nettle creek is named as it is. The
creek is also known as Needle Creek because a land developer
thought the original name might dissuade potential customers of his
nearby project.
