Located at 55 Water Street, you can either enter this area via
South Street or Water Street. I was not aware of this space until I
spotted it on a ferry ride to Manhattan from Red Hook, Brooklyn.
The site is a full acre 30+ feet above the street offering a great
view of the East River from the Brooklyn Bridge to Governors
Island.
The Elevated Acre features a Brazilian harrwood boardwalk, all
season lawn surrounded by a seven-tiered amphitheater and a
50-foot-high light structure called the “Beacon of
Progress.”
Enjoy the view and what this site has to offer. Hours are 7 a.m.
- 10 p.m. May 1 to Sept. 30 and 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Oct. 1 to Apr.
30.
There is quite a bit of signal bounce given the location so gps
accuracy will most likely be an issue. Trust the satellite view.
Hopefully the hint narrows it down.
If you have extra time, please take a moment to visit the New
York Vietnam Veterans Memorial just next door to the southwest.
Cache only contains a log so be sure to bring a pen/pencil.
