Vegetationskundlich betrachtet handelt es sich um einen
Trockenrasen mit teilweise pannonischen Pflanzen, wie sie nur in
Niederösterreich und dem Burgenland vorkommen. Pflanzen, die
trockenen Boden lieben, finden hier ein Paradies. Frühlingsadonis,
Kuhschelle, Traubenhyazinthe, Diptam und verschiedene Orchideen
blühen in bunten Farben. Niedrige Gräser, kaum Schatten und viel
Sonneneinstrahlung schaffen ein Klima, geradezu perfekt für
zahlreiche wärmeliebende Insektenarten. Übrigens: Besonders
geschützt sind auch die Wälder an den Hängen rund um die
Himmelwiese. In den 1990er Jahren wurden sie zum Naturwaldreservat
erklärt.
Parken kann man bei N48° 08.679 E16° 15.215
Öffentlich gelangt man mit der Linie 60A bis Station
Lindauergasse.
Danach führt ein Weg teilweise durch den Wald ca. 800m bis zum
Versteckort.
Der Cache liegt nahe bei einem wunderschönen Aussichtspunkt, von
dem aus man einen herrlichen Blick nach Niederösterreich hat und wo
Bänke zum Verweilen einladen.
English description: Himmelwiese („heaven’s
grassland“) in the 23th district of Vienna is one of the most
beautiful grasslands in Vienna. Seen from the botanic point of view
it is a dry grassland with partially Pannonian plants, like they
exist only in lower Austria and Burgenland. Plants which love dry
ground find their paradise here. Adonis vernalis, pasque flower,
grape hyacinths, dictamnus and different types of Orchids are in
multicoloured flowers. Low grasses, only a little shadow and a lot
of solar irradiation provide a climate which is just perfect for
termophile vermin. By the way: Under special protection are also
the woods around the Himmelswiese. They were declared as natural
forest reserves in 1990.
You can park your car at N48° 08.679 E16° 15.215 By public
transport you can take the bus 60A until station Lindauergasse.
From there a path (partially through the forest) goes about 800
metres until the hiding place. The cache is located close to a
marvellous lookout, from where you have a great scenic view to
lower Austria and where benches invite you to stay.
