A somewhat challenging geocache, in a beautiful area.

Finding the actual geocache is the easy part. Getting to the cache might not be so easy.
A good four wheel drive vehicle is needed to drive the last 2.1 miles. Or you could always hike in.
The geocache is at Surprise Lake, on a small island. When we placed the cache, we used an inner tube. One could also swim. The easiest access might be from the northeast. It may be just a wade situation from here, as I could see the bottom all of the way to the island.
The geocache most probably won’t be accessible during the winter months, as it is 4400 feet in elevation. Please use stealth. This tends to be a busy place during the summer. Please rehide well. You are looking for a small ammo box stocked with some goodies.
To get here, drive hiway 165 through Wilkeson, and Carbonado towards Mt. Rainier National Park. Cross over the very high, green O’Ferrell bridge. Follow the river until you are just shy of the park boundry, and turn left onto Forest Service rd. 7810. Cross the river and continue up the 7810 rd. until you reach the parking coordinates: N. 47º 00.807, W 121º 51.604. Parking here is a wise choice unless you have a capable four by four, such as a Jeep with locking differentials, and don’t mind a little paint damage. The elevation gain is about 1200 feet or so from here to the lake.
