Geocache Description:

Historic Micanopy - the oldest inland town and 2nd oldest town in the United States.

Originally a Seminole village "Cuscowilla", the town was renamed after Chief Micanopy (one of the more friendly Native Americans). One of the first visitors was William Bartram, a naturalist explorer in the 1870's who wrote extensively about the area.

Now Micanopy is a relatively quiet small town with about 700 residents except for the Fall Festival held each November.

The cache is located at the Micanopy Museum. You do not need to enter the museum but you would find it interesting. It's open daily from 1pm-4pm. Originally the museum was Thrasher's Warehouse, one of the merchants here when I was a young child a half century ago! Check out the photos in the gallery.

You are looking a large Tupperware container containing swag and trackables.

Congratulations to AMTG for the FTF!
