Fido's Fire Eyes 3: To Hell and Back! Multi-Cache
The Herd: After confirming tacks are in place, decided that instead of arguing the proper way to do a night cache, I'd open up the area for the experts to hide their own.

Welcome back to the Dunes Pet Cemetery... if you
dare! Long multi stage NIGHT cache located inside Indiana Dunes
State Park.
Hallowed ground for those animals that lie buried here. Seeing the
markers far in the woods often brings chills down the spine, and a
swing of the flashlight in directions unknown, searching for the
howling sound behind you!
This is the third and most difficult night cache into the Dunes pet
cemetery. Placed by the State Park Cacher's Campout Committee with
assistance of DNR staff, you will venture deeper into the thick
overgrowth woodlands that haunt the backdune swamps.
Daily entrance fees are charged at the gate to Indiana Dunes State
Park. For state residents they are $4 weekday, $5 weekend, $10 out
of state. Entrance into the park is necessary to find this cache.
Recommended parking can be found before the main campground
entrance. From there, walk the road into the Youth Tent Area
(Nissaki). There is no access from State Park Rd, and you will
probably be ticketed if not towed by National Lakeshore Rangers.
There are plenty of other caches in the park to make a day or
weekend out of it!
At the posted coordinates you will
find a fire tack on a telephone pole. From there, follow the criss
crossing path of white fire tacks through the dense woods. (Hint:
there are between 30-40 tacks) It goes without saying, but yes, you
will need a good flashlight. At the end, there are a series of
double and then triple tacks to lead you out. At the actual cache
site, you will find FOUR eyes, side by side, from the owls guarding
the cache site. Search nearby to find the ammo
can.
Do not get lost, as no one will hear you scream out here. Please
park at the campground visitor lot to reach the cache site, as
scouts are often camping in the youth tent areas, particularly on
weekends. Good luck, godspeed!
