According to the publication "Monumental Transcriptions, North
Central Simcoe County," there are two "lone roadside plots" along
Lot 11, Concession 6, Oro. They are believed to be Baptist graves.
When the transcriptions were done in 1974, one of the markers bore
the partial identification "...wife of Thompson, David."
Given their proximity to Edgar, and the Thompson name, it is
believed they may have been residents of the black settlement in
Oro Township.
I'd like to thank the Simcoe County archivist for providing this
background information.
The cache is quite visible but it might not be easy to see.
Please return the cache to the same location, which may prove a bit
tricky. The container is small so it currently holds a logbook and
an FTF prize, a gift card that will get you some refreshments in
Barrie or Orillia.
Congrats to DavetecsGirl for being FTF. Enjoy the tea :-)
