Jomas street is one of the central and oldest streets of city Jurmala, which has experienced different changes and transformations. The name of Jomas street is related with straits - paralel dips in sand-dunes, which have appeared from wind operations in places where the sea stepped back. The road strait is Jomas street, middle strait is Lienes street, but Rigas street has been the side strait. In 1850 at the place of today's Jomas street was wet forest where a manor house was situated. Since 1987 Jomas street is a pedestrian street and the name of it has remained till nowadays although in 1899 it was for short-term named as Pushkina street. Last it was renovated in 1999 and nowadays it is a business card of Jurmala city.
