Listed coordinates are for the "Mariners' Gate." One of 20 gated entrances to Central Park. Each gate was named by Olmsted and Vaux, the park's designers, for the type of person they anticipated entering the park from that area. The cache is not there, but is a short distance away. To find the actual cache, you will need to solve the puzzle below.
In the 1862 Annual Report of the Board of Commissioners of the Central Park, where Olmstead and Vaux named each gate for the first time, and explained their reasoning behind each name they said "The prosperity of every Metropolis depends to an important extent on the channels open to it for ready communication with the the rest of the business world. In a city with such an immense shipping interest as New York, one branch of this idea will be typified by the Mariner who is forever carving out a new public highway over the ocean, the river, or the lake."
So in the spirit of the Mariner, here is a chart on which to map your course to the cache. You'll need to learn to steer as a mariner does, and communicate as a mariner does. So face into the wind, and let's go!
