THE CACHE is a white box with 16 cm diameter and 6 cm height, hidden at ground level, under a bush.
On Aug. 15, 2013 there was a large fire on the surrounding bush! The cache is on place.
VIR ISLAND
Vir is a 22,38 km2 island in the Zadar Region of the Croatian seashore. Sizes: 10.12 km x 4.25 km.
It lies in front of the 60 km long Pag Island and the impressive Velebit Mountains with about 100 km length.
In the recent years a lot of resort was built here, owned by different nationality people, among them many Hungarians. The west side of the island is nature conservation area.
In spite of this, there was not cache yet on the island. Me and my son hide one on a beautiful viewpoint. It's name is GCVir on the Hungarian www.geocaching.hu site.
WAY TO THE CACHE
From Privlaka drive through the bridge, go ahead to the centre of Vir village, follow the asphalt road to the direction of Luzice, and later Torovi village, and park at the first house. Walk to the brown table "Vidikovac Gazebo BANDIRA", from where a stone covered lane leads on the summit, at a point with big rocks. On foot acces is recommended with good view. No drinking water access.
BANDIRA SUMMIT VIEWPOINT
Bandira Summit (112 m) is the highest point of the island with beautiful panoramic view for the island itself, the archipelago and the Velebit Mountains. It is probably one of the best viewpoints for Velebit Mountains which rises from the sea to the 1757 m high peak. The Velebit contains the North Velebit and the Paklenica National Parks with the second largest canyon in Europe. On the summit there are also excavated ruins of a small church.
A Croatian interpreter is wanted.
