Ten years ago this weekend
Barb and I joined our hands in marraige on Sanibel Island. We have
been back many times over the years and always love visiting the
island. We were married very near this event location and decided
we would like to spend our 10th anniversary back where it all
started for us. We started geocaching in 2006 and until a little
over a year ago had never had the chance to cache on Sanibel. We
finally had the chance to, and loved it. We decided to have our own
personal geocoin made up. We came up with the Sanibel lighthouse
since not only is it a virtual geocache, there was also a
traditional cache there and it is a benchmark.
Anyway, enough about
all that and on to the event. We thought we would love to meet some
of the local cachers or even ones that are on the island for a
vacation of their own. So we are going to host a very casual get
together at the gazebo by City Hall. There are restrooms nearby, a
cache at the event location and a little bit of shade. So come out
and share some caching stories, bring your travel bugs or coins to
trade and maybe a drink to quench your thirst. This will be a
casual event, nothing real special going on just cachers meeting
other cachers. We hope you will join us. If you have a personal
geocoin or TB that you would like to trade bring those as well. We
will have a few of our Sanibel coins as well as some SCGA (Space
Coast Geocachers Association) items with
us.
Event will start at
5:00 pm and go until everyone has had enough. If you have a chair
you might want to bring it or bring a blanket to throw down on the
grass. There is a very limited amount of benches under the
gazebo.
One more note...if you
are not on Sanibel already there is a $6.00 toll to cross the
bridge getting onto Sanibel. There is free parking at the event
location.
