Great Codham Hall Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

HollynCharlie: We have decided to archive this cache, it has now been collected so is no longer at the location. Thank you to everyone who has found this cache but the area has changed a lot and so has the dynamics of caching since we placed it many many moons ago. With only a handful of finds every year its now time to call it a day on this one.

This is the last of the orginal caches from the Jolly Jaunt series to be archived, this was once part of a beautiful circular walk, the views and countryside are still amazing.

Geocache Description:

This used to be part of the Very Jolly Jaunt series that was a long walk of over 6 miles but due to a few caches going missing and some hard going footpaths we have had to remove some of the caches in the series and therefore rather than archive them all, we have made some of them into stand alone caches.

A short walk past Great Codham Hall.

Great Codham Hall was once owned by Sir John de Coggeshall (1301-1361). Sir John was one of the most active knights of his time in the County of Essex and also one of the wealthiest. Great Codham Hall served as the families main residence. The Hall itself has an long history, with the oldest part of the house dating back to 1327. The Hall was renovated in the 1930's and alot of the original features lost. In the grounds remain a brick dovecote and a octagonal wooden cupola. To the North of the hall lies a cottage that was once a manorial chapel.

You are seeking a small clip container with Log Book, pen and swaps. Please re-hide well.
