Une cache sportive et physique dans les Pyrénées ariégeoises pour des marcheurs – escaladeurs qui aiment l’effort. Comptez entre 3h et 5h pour l’aller. Dénivelé positif de 910m.
Le lieu-dit « le Trou de l’ Or » (alt 2 047m) est un endroit qui passe pour avoir été une véritable mine d’or dirigée, au temps des Romains, par un certain Justinien. En 1807, un baron d’ Orgeix entreprit de l’explorer, mais ne trouva rien. Pourtant, cette mine dut être un bon filon car on dit que c’est ici que le Comte de Carcassonne trouva les ressources nécessaires pour construire les remparts de sa ville !
A notre connaissance, cet endroit ne figure plus sur aucune carte, et pour qu’il puisse continuer à être découvert, nous désirons « l’offrir » aux géocacheurs amoureux comme nous de la montagne et ses secrets.
Ceci est un "héritage" que certains anciens montagnards d’ Orlu ont transmis à Alain en l’y emmenant quand il était petit.

Sachez que pour remonter du fond du Trou, (environ 9m), vous devrez avoir beaucoup de force dans les bras, car même si vous avez le matériel nécessaire décrit plus bas, vous devrez compter beaucoup sur vous même et vos capacités physiques pour vous hisser vers le haut.
Ceci dit, cette aventure est ouverte à tous ceux qui sont en bonne forme physique, à condition bien sûr que toutes les règles de sécurité soient respectées.
MATERIEL MINIMUM NECESSAIRE :
- Corde de 25m (le Trou fait environ 9m de profondeur), diamètre en fonction de votre matériel ;
- Bloqueur-poignée ou Basic ;
- ou Shunt en dernier recours ;
- Huit pour le rappel ;
- Sangles (2) pour le point d'accroche ;
- Autres sangles ou autre courte corde pour un 2ème point d'accroche de sécurité. (voir photo)
CONSEILS :
Vous pouvez toujours assurer d' en haut, mais la corde frottera obligatoirement, à cause de la 1ère marche négative en haut du trou : à éviter ... en effet, en frottant, la corde peut décrocher des pierres au grand bonheur de celui qui remonte :-D…...
Pour la remontée : vous pouvez remonter assis dos à la paroi latérale et les pieds qui poussent sur la paroi d'en face.

Garez vous au parking (payant) Fanguil – Chalets ( 1 137m), position :
N 42° 40 750
E 001° 56 917
De là, prenez le chemin (presque une autoroute) qui mène à la Jasse de Justignac, (comptez ½ h de marche) jusqu’à la position :
N 42° 39 776
E 001° 58 014
Là, prenez à gauche le GR 7 qui vous mènera aux étangs de Baxouillade. (Vous y trouverez un panneau qui flèche les différents parcours).
Arrivé au Rocher de l’ Homme Mort, position :
N 42° 39 777
E 001° 58 800
Prenez à gauche, comme indiqué par la peinture rouge sur la pierre.
Pour plus de facilité, nous vous conseillons de consulter le lien ci-dessous, où vous trouverez toutes les positions de ce que vous pourrez découvrir lors de votre randonnée : la cascade de Baxouillade, une station météo, la vue sur le Pic de Brasseuil, (communément appelé Dent d’ Orlu), le Rocher de l’ Homme Mort, où vous devrez prendre sur la gauche, la Porteille d’ Orlu, (que vous pourrez voir sur votre droite depuis le Rocher de l’ Homme Mort), l’ Etang de Baxouillade, et, si vous faites un petit effort de plus, l’ Etang de Baxouillade d’en Haut (environ 1/2h de plus de marche). An athletic and physical cache in the Pyrenees ariégeoises for hikers - climbers who like effort. Count between 3 and 5 hours to go there. Elevation gain of 910m.
The place called "The Gold Hole" (alt 2 047m) is a place that is said to have been a real gold mine led, in Roman times, by a certain Justinian. In 1807, a baron of Orgeix explored it, but found nothing. However, the mine had to be a good vein because it is said that the Comte de Carcassonne found the resources to build the walls of his city here!
As far as we know, this place is no longer listed on any map and, so that it can continue to be discovered, we would like to "offer" it to geocachers, lovers of the mountain and its secrets like us.
This is a "legacy" from some Orlu mountain men who gave it to Alain by taking him there when he was a little boy.

This cache deserves 5 stars for its difficult terrain.

YOU MUST HAVE CLIMBING NOTIONS AND KNOW HOW TO USE THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT.
DO NOT START the adventure if you SUFFER FROM CLAUSTROPHOBIA!
Note that to climb up from the bottom of the hole, (approximately 9m), you will need strong arms, because even if you have the necessary equipment described below, you will need to rely on yourself and your physical abilities to pull yourself up to the top.
Also note that this adventure is open to all those who are physically fit, provided of course that all safety rules are met.
MINIMUM EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
- 25m rope (the Gold Hole is approximately 9m deep), diameter depending on your equipment;
- Blocker-handle or Basic;
- Shunt or as a last resort:
- A figure eight for rappel;
- Straps (2) to the point of grip;
- Other straps or another short rope for a 2nd safety grip point. (see photo)
TIPS:
You can always protect from the top, but the rope will rub the ground because of the negative 1st step at the top of the Hole… Do not do that! ... Indeed, by rubbing the ground, the rope can free stones, to the great delight of the one who is climbing back :-D ... ...
To climb back, you can sit with your back leaning on the rock face behind you and your feet pushing on the opposite one.

Park at Fanguil - Chalets (1 137m)(pay car park), position:

From there, take the path (nearly a motorway) which leads to Justignac Jasse, (about ½ hour’s walk) to position:
N 42 ° 39 776
E 001 ° 58 014
There, turn left on the GR 7 which leads you to les Etangs de Baxouillade. (You will find a sign showing the different routes).
When you arrive at the Rocher de l 'Homme Mort, position:

Turn left, as indicated by the red paint on the stone.
