Landhof forever!
Das ehemalige Stadion des FC Basel ist heute eine grüne Insel inmitten der Stadt.
Der Landhof ist mitten in der Stadt, aber auf der von einem verbogenen Geländer umgebenen Wiese ist es meist eher still. Wenn man sich durch die hohen Brombeeren zur alten Stadionuhr zuoberst auf der ehemaligen Stehrampe kämpft, kann man das Spielfeld durch den Urwald hindurch nur noch erahnen. Statt Bäume und Sträucher standen hier früher Zuschauer, an einem Meisterschaftsspiel 1951 gegen GC beispielsweise ganze 17’982.
Dieser Cache ist der erste einer Serie des Sportmuseums Schweiz, das so sportkulturelle Hotspots würdigen und bekannt machen möchte. Welcher Ort ist für Dich ein sportkultureller Hotspot? Angaben in den Logs willkommen.
Nachdem die schöne grosse Box mehrfach gemuggelt wurde ist der Cache nun etwas besser versteckt – dafür ist der Zugang doch etwas dornig...

The old stadium of FC Basel is a green oasis in the modern city
This is the place, where the founders of the FC Basel played. And this is, where Switzerland won its first national match against Germany. Some historic matches:
• 26. November 1893: First fun-match of the founders of the Football-Club Basel
• 5. April 1908: Switzerland – Germany 5:3: First win of Switzerland, first international match of Germany.
• 20. Mai 1909: Switzerland – England 0:9: Biggest loss of Switzerland ever.
• 7. Juni 1925: Basel (city selection) – Club Nacional Montevideo 2:5: Inauguration of the new stadium.
• 7. Juni 1953: FCB - Servette Genf 1:0: Basel wins Swiss Championship for the first time.
• 16. September 1967: FCB – Young Fellows Zürich 1:0: last match of FC Basel on Landhof.
