Small test tube type cache. The cache is just behind the crash barrier. YOU ONLY NEED TO GO ONE STEP OVER THE BARRIER. TAKE CARE. Cache is on a ridge overlooking both San Stefanos and Arillas bays, with wonderful views over to the Diapontia Islands and on a clear day Albania. Circular walk is along a dirt track. As always on Corfu watch out for snakes.
To find the track. Walk along the main road through San Stefanos towards the harbour. Walk past Manthos Taverna (on the right hand side of road) and turn left just before the Fantasea (old Golden Beach Hotel) (on the left hand side of road). Heading uphill turn right onto a dusty track, small house on right as you turn. Go straight on main track. Keep following the main track up to the top of the ridge where you will be able to see the larger islands of (from the left) Mathraki, Othoni and Erikoussa with smaller islands in the foreground. When the track reaches the ridge there is a big house on the right. In WWII this was an Italian lookout post. As you walk along the main track there is a small path to the left which leads to a small chapel which is well worth a visit. Carry on the main track until you reach the co-ordinates. The bay on your right hand side is Arillas Bay. DON'T GO TOO NEAR THE EDGE! After the cache take the downhill track with white apartments on the left hand side back into San Stefanos. Please bring your own pen/pencil I have been notified that the cache has been left uncovered and in plain view. Please do not let the cache fall down the slope, tuck it well in and make sure that you replace and cover well. Thanks.
