This cache has been archived.

Novac: Thanks to everyone who took the time on a Wednesday evening to come hang out on NY's 10th geocaching anniversary. It was nice meeting some new people and hearing interesting stories. It was a great time hiking to The Spot, too. Thanks again, I'm glad everyone had fun!

Since this event will be on a weekday, please plan accordingly! Figure out your drive time! Arrange to take the day off or take a half-day! The sooner you start planning, the easier it will be.

Location: This event will be held at the posted coordinates:
Bob & Ruth's Vineyard Restaurant
204 North Main Street (aka Rte 21)
Naples, NY

Bob & Ruth's serves ice cream, which should be the perfect treat for those of you who decide to hike to The Spot before the event. They also serve food -- for menu and pricing details you can call Bob & Ruth's at 585-374-5122. Weather permitting, we will enjoy our food outdoors!

The Spot was placed by gpsfool on May 26, 2000 and that means that its 10 year anniversary will be on May 26, 2010. What better way to celebrate than to bring a group of geocachers together on the anniversary? We will celebrate the placement of The Spot, geocaching in the 10 years since, and geocaching for another 10 years!

For those who would like to visit The Spot itself on its anniversary: Ask around on local geocaching forums if you're interested in meeting up at The Spot with others. I plan on being there around 6:30 pm.

Some facts about The Spot:
  • GC code: GC39

  • The fifth oldest active cache (after GC30, GC12, GC28, and GC3E).
  • To find an older cache, you would have to travel 558 miles ATCF (or 672 miles if you don't have wings) to GC28 in Illinois.
