Geocache Description:

Just a few yards off of a powerline trail. Very slight downhill slope going in. Flat in the woods. No CITO at the time of cache placement.

As I got home late tonight after spending the day helping my buddy pack to move, I zipped to the computer and asked Alaskan Bill what he thought for FTFs. No idea, he replied. I said, "FTF - lrb&mlb. One other finder." And what do you suppose? Dead on.

One in four boys in America will become Scouts, but it is interesting to know that of the leaders of this nation in business, religion and politics, three out of four were Scouts. Of 100 boys in Scouting -

Only rarely will one appear in juvenile court.
12 will receive their first church contact through Scouting.
5 will receive church religious emblems.
1 will enter the clergy due to his Scouting relationships.

8 will find their future life vocations.

1 will credit Scout skills with saving his own life.
2 of the 100 will reach Eagle Rank.
17 will later become leaders in Scouting and will pass on their skills, inspiration and leadership to countless youth.

Of available online statistics, since 1991, over 28,000 American Boy Scouts have achieved the Eagle Rank every year, with the number greater than that each year. In 2006, 51,728 Scouts made Eagle. (link from same source.)

To help hundreds of thousands of Scouts in the program each year requires the countless time, effort, energy, dedication - and money! - of hundreds of thousand Scouters, trained adult leaders who pay their own annual registration, buy their own uniforms, pay for a continuing series of carefully designed adult leadership courses, and who continually model the three basic aims of character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness. Scouters have thorough background investigations.

The Eight Methods of Scouting include:
1. Scouting ideals
2. Patrols
3. Outdoors
4. Advancement
5. Personal Growth
6. Adult Association
7. Leadership Development
8. Uniform

One of the most advanced and valued courses of adult training to be found in any venue is Wood Badge. Begun in 1919 in England by the founder of Boy Scouting, Lord Baden Powell, Wood Badgers are trained in Living the Values, Bringing the Vision to Life, Models for Success, Tools of the Trade, and Leading to Make a Difference.

In Wood Badge, Scouters are assigned to "critter" patrols, which are considered lifelong assignments; I will always be a Fox.

In England for World Jamboree two summers ago, over 142,000 Scouts, Scouters, parents, and other visitors descended upon Hyland Park. Our next World Jambo in two summers is scheduled to be held on a white sand beach in Sweden!

So this cache is a Wood Badge FOX - in a very unusual place for a Fox! Oh, my! There is a buffalo with him! BYOP.
