The signs above can be found along, or just
off, Kendal's main street (we suggest starting at the south end by
Nether Bridge), and also east down Stramongate to Longpool.
If you're an old soak and know the pubs, you may not need to visit
them at all. If you're a tea-totaller and don't know the
names you could easily combine a pleasant walk around town with
finding Green Plaques or the secrets
of The Auld
Grey Town. By the way, there's no actual
need to have a drink in each pub to complete this
cache!! Cache is a small L&L, please re-hide well.
The signs have all mysteriously lost their
names, so you will need to discover the right names. The
other information needed also comes from the signs. If in any
doubt about the name always use the one actually on the sign.
Here's some numbers to work out
- How many Inns are there?
- How many Taverns are there?
- How many Arms are there?
- How many Hotels are there?
- How many names begin with 'The'?
Total the above answers and minus 2, to produce A,
the cost of a bag of crisps.
- Excluding any birds or bees, how many animals are shown?
- How many crowns are shown?
- How many castles are shown?
- How many people are shown?
- How many of the pubs are west of the main street?
Total the above answers and minus 1 to produce B,
the cost of a pint.
For the latitude: find the cost of 4 bags of crisps and 2
pints. Add the total cost to (54 19.) 204
For the longitude, find the cost of 6 crisps and 3 pints. Add
the total to (02 44.) 351
