Arcade Classics - Battlezone Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

ePeterso2: This one has been here for quite a while. When I placed it, I had imagined a series that captured all of my favorite classic arcade games in real-life geocaching form. All of the others in that series have been archived, and I think it's time to let this one go to make room for new cache owners.

Congrats to all who found it.

Geocache Description:

This series is an homage to classic video arcade games.

Name Battlezone
Year Released 1980
Creator Atari
What Made It Different Battlezone was the first game to use first-person 3-D graphics in combination with realistic viewfinder and controllers. In this regard, it is widely considered to be the first commercial "virtual reality" game.
Little Known Facts A prototype was developed for the military to use as a gun trainer for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Only two prototypes were built - one was destroyed, and the other was fished out of the dumpster by a private collector.
