It's all aboüt the Nines!

The FlyinV's fascination with unusual dates continues!  They're on Cloud Nine in New Mexico now, but the tradition continues in South Jersey.  And if it's not in South Jersey, can it be the original?  Nein!  Nur das Süd Jersey Event ist das Original!  So meet us at 9 at the 09-09-09 @ 09:09:09 Event!

This year the 09-09-09 Event will be held in conjunction with similar events all over the world.  Check the bookmarks on this page to see other locations celebrating the nines.  There are over 50 events this year celebrating the nines!

A new unactivated, limited production "NJ 999 coin" will be given away in a drawing at this event, courtesy of JoenSue. Anyone who is physically there and who has logged a "will attend" is eligible!

Can't make it at 9am because of work or school?  Then stop by 09-09-09 @ 09:09:09 PM  (GC1W66C) at 9 pm and see who shows up!

The Ninth Year, Ninth Month, Ninth Day, Ninth Hour, Ninth Minute, and Ninth Second mission began in 2005 when the FlyinV's decided to hold an event called 05-05-05 @ 05:05:05 to determine which cachers were so crazed and hungry for geocaching that they would get together that early in the morning. Almost 50 fellow cachers attended! The following year, 06-06-06 @ 06:06:06 was just as much fun with over 60 people attending that event.  In 2007, about 150 cachers attended 07-07-07 @ 07:07:07.  And in 2008, on a summer Friday, almost 88 folks attended the 08-08-08 @ 08:08:08 … therefore, the “All About the Numbers” event series lives on!

We are inviting all of you to join us once again for a geocacher greet, meet, and eat! And, if it's all about the Nines this year, then it has to take place at 09:09:09 in the morning!!  This year, the event is on a Wednesday, so put in your vacation request early, or, cough cough, start playing up the "too sick to work" routine on Tuesday before heading home!  Doctor's notes will be available for a small fee :)

It's a casual event, so there's no reason to dress to the nines for this one!  Sorry, K9's not permitted in the restaurant.

This is a table service restaurant offering the whole nine yards - order from the menu, but don't forget to pay as you leave, and remember to tip your server!

We have given the event Nine Stars (4.5 for difficulty and 4.5 for terrain) for those who will have difficulty passing up this event, and for those that will have difficulty getting off from work or school (for those unfortunate few who might have to go to work, try these on your boss and join everyone for an after-event cache-a-thon)!

So join the fun at Number 9, Number 9, Number 9, ...  Sounds like a broken record.

Just like the past years, we are on the lookout for creative cache containers and creative hide ideas. Last year we had numerous inventive and imaginative containers at our event and we are eager to see what this year will bring! In that vein, a contest ensues ...

Most Creative Geocache Container Contest

Put your noggin to work and get creative.  Bring your coolest geocache container.  The only rule is this has to be a useable geocache container, and we should all expect to see it placed soon after the event!  The winner will be decided by YOUR VOTES shortly after 09:09:09.  Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Third place finishers…you just have to play to win!

To claim this event cache, you will need to make your way to the above coordinates and sign the logbook by 09:00. This will ensure that we can all be together to celebrate 09:09:09.  We hope you will stay for breakfast!

“Bug Exchanges” are always welcome.  If you are bringing travel bugs to trade, please have their Bug Page printed and included, so their goal will not be a mystery.

If you plan on attending, please include in your posting how many will be in your group so we can let the restaurant know how many crazy cachers to expect.  Be sure to watch this page for updates, changes, and/or announcements.

Numbers Event Trivia

Only eight cachers have attended all four previous events:

angryEMT
C.C.Cachers
chstress53
ekitt10
Evil Chicken
Grunriese
PaperBlob
trowel32

(bella_candy attended four as well, but not all four South Jersey events)

What is the difference between a frog and a cat?
A frog croaks all the time, a cat only nine times.

The origin of the 9 integers can be attributed to the ancient Indian civilization, and was adopted by subsequent civilizations in conjunction with the 0. Nine is the atomic number of fluorine. A human pregnancy normally lasts nine months. Nine ball is the standard professional pocket billiards. Cats have 9 lives. "Love Potion No. 9" was originally performed by The Clovers in 1955. The word "K-9" pronounces the same as canine and is used in many U.S. police departments to denote the police dog unit. (courtesy avroair)
