Geocache Description:

Vörs

Vörs is a very small village, situated just some kilometres below the southern beachside of the Balaton. As the main streets ends up in the natural reservat of the Kis Balaton, it´s a "dead end place" and so as well very quiet down there. Like everywhere around the lake, more and more houses have already been build from and for tourists, you will find starting this as well here.

We rented one of this new houses from a colleguage and enjoyed nearly three weeks in Vörs and within the Balaton area. As I would like you to get to know the nice village as well, I left two caches in Vörs. This one is a very well camouflaged cache - but you need to find out some information about Vörs before you may (hopefully ;-) can log ...

First you will have to use the internet to find out the last three digits of the telephonenumbers of the "Dorfmuseum" (UUU) and the "Feuerwehrmuseum" (VVV) of Vörs. Accidentally there are different ones at a german and at a hungarian homepage. To get the correct ones, please use the german page of "Vörs" only - it will be easy.

As the above mentioned coordinates are not real, you need to do following to find the first waypoint:

N46 39.131 + UUU = N46 39.WWW

E017 16.830 - VVV = E017 16.XXX

You may use the below geochecker to verify the new coordinates.

At the starting waypoint you will find a board with some more information about Vörs in hungarian, english and german language. Just read it, find the answers to the questions, do some mathematic again and you will get the coordinates of the final hiding place.

When had the village Vörs been written mentioned first? Cecksumm = A

When had the church been built? Checksumm = B

Since when do they built up one of the largest nativity scenes in Europe in the church? Checksumm = C. Attention: in the german version the second digit is wrong: instead of the 18XX you need to use a 19XX!

How many letters does the name of the famous stork consist of? Summ = D. Attention: if you use the hungarian name, you need to add the digit 1 to your result!

At which year had the way from Szombathely to Tours been named as a european culture route? Checksumm = E

When did the patron die, the church is named after? Checksumm = F

N46 39.WWW - ((A + B + C) * 13 + 30) = N46 39.YYY - 39

E017 16.XXX + ((D + E + F) * 4 + 27 ) = E017 16.ZZZ + 12

The new coordinates will lead you to the final hiding place of the micro box - you may have a look at the spoiler foto! You can park your car at the end of the asphalted road or as well drive up to the cache on the dirt road, as it is not far from your starting point.

The box is camouflaged within natural material. You need to unscrew the "lid" to open it. Please bring your own pen along. Close the lid again so that  everything will "fit" and looks "natural" again. Please hide the cache below some more natural material.

Have fun searching the cache, learn something about Vörs and always happy hunting. As the box seemed to be "gone" in August 2012, the German team "dg8mfv" replaced it by a new one, same style ;-) As the final place has changed little bit as well, I had to add the -39/+12 to the last coordinaten math.

Best regards

awema

Special thanks to "taska1981" for his offer to support my caches in Hungary and to "dg8mfv" for placing a new box in August 2012
