Geocache Description:

Church of Lady St Mary Wareham

Another contribution to this series started by sadexploration.

You are looking for a 35mm film container.

PLEASE BRING A PEN/PENCIL TO SIGN THE LOG.

The church is built on the site of an 8th century Minster church and still boasts a 14th century chancel and Tudor tower with a ring of 10 bells. Inside the church is a notable font, one of only 31 lead fonts in the country. The octagonal base of Purbeck marble is 13th century, and the hexagonal lead bowl bearing images of the twelve apostles is a century earlier. It escaped destruction by Cromwell’s men during the Civil War by being encased and concealed in a wooden frame.

It’s also the church where Stormtroopers 1 & 2 got married and Stormtroopers 3 & 4 were christened!

Find the memorial cross for Frank Shakespeare Pearson who died A Sept BCDE aged FG

The cache is at:

The cache is NOT hidden in the churchyard.

If anybody would like to expand this series we would just ask that you contact sadexploration first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names and to avoid duplication.
