Geocache Description:

Harlow Water Tower #1

The water tower at church langley may not be everybodies cup of tea, but is a local landmark (as such) that can be seen from miles around.

There are some wonderful roof top shots available on the website of one of the people who actually worked on the construction of the tower (http://www.m11watertower.org.uk/)

Technical Information

The tower was constructed between 1993 and 1994 and holds an impressive 2,200m³ of water (weighing in at a paltry 2,200 metric tonnes!!), split across two 1,100m³ tanks (one inner and one outer). The top of the cone has a ~25m diameter which narrows down to ~15 diameter at the bottom, which in turn rests on a 4m diameter central shaft.

Location

The tower is located in an area of flat land, which plays host to plenty of local birds and other wildlife. As well as numerous dog walkers and joggers.

There was a previous cache here GC170NY placed by UncleDaveT, which was muggled and this is kind of a replacement for it. Albeit in a slightly different location.

The cache is a magnetic key safe.
