Geocache Description:

The place name "Mamiana" has its origin in various views one of which says that the place was thickly wooded and that "Mami" might have inhabited thehe.
"Mami" is zoologically supposed to be badger but is said to have sometimes been confused with raccoon dog.

かつてこの場所は飯倉村と呼ばれていましたが、明治時代以降に飯倉狸穴町と呼ばれるようになり、その後、麻布狸穴町となりました。
狸穴の地名の由来は諸説ありますが、谷あいの土地で古くより木立が茂り、「まみ」が住んでいそうな場所であったためといわれています。
「まみ」とは今日の動物学上ではアナグマとされておりタヌキと混同されたことがあったといいます。
