There are those among our geocaching community who have the gift. I'm speaking of those who readily solve the puzzles that, for most of us, are unsolvable. I'm speaking of those who are not distracted by the extraneous text, numbers, graphics or other chaff that some puzzles include. I'm speaking of those who know how to read between the lines and those who know when to ignore the lines. I'm speaking of those who instinctively know how to work their way through the most complex puzzles while the rest of us languish indefinitely.
Yes, some of us may have expertise in math, language, art or science but those whom I'm speaking of know enough about any subject to navigate through any puzzle. While many of us will avoid puzzles that contain subjects we're unfamiliar with, those with the gift are undeterred.
Some of us would like to believe that this gift is simply a matter of experience rather than an inherent skill. I tend to believe that one's ability to solve puzzles will improve with experience but, there will always be puzzles that remain unsolvable unless one has the gift.
