The Piston Cup Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

GEO936: What a sad day again! We have decided to archive this awesome cache.
The venue has changed so much since we originally placed this cache. The theme has been totally lost, and as such the cache is "out of place".
The premises are still owned by the same people, but they lease it out to other people, and we were not able to find a suitable, safe resting place for this cache.
We thank Debbie, the Owner, for all her support and enthusiasm with this cache. For allowing us to hide it in her awesome establishment. We thank her for looking after the cache and keeping it safe while tenants changed.
We thank the wonderful geocaching community for taking time to visit and enjoy this cache. For giving up their hard earned Favourite Points - we really appreciate all the support. At the time of archival, this cache had 39 favourites. This number will change if people want to get their points back.
It was fantastic, but as the saying goes - all good things must come to an end.
Thank you everyone!
Silvia - GEO936

Geocache Description:

The cache container is a small (500ml, lock n lock), secure, well hidden (indoors) and suited for small TB’s and Geocoins. Please respect the venue and the visiting patrons! The venue is wheel chair friendly

The Disney/Pixar ® Movie “Cars” inspired us to call this cache “The Piston Cup”. The location of the cache is at a “Car” themed restaurant / bar in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind. It truly is an amazing place, often used by car clubs to display their vehicles or motorbikes on the First Floor or on the grounds. Most of the activity is over the weekend.

I would consider this venue as a “best kept Secret” of the Magaliesberg. As in the “Cars” movie, the property is decorated with old interesting automotive parts and artefacts. The collection is impressive to see and cleverly displayed. The owners are extremely proud of their collection and will gladly show you around. Ask them for their photo album!

There are two awesome areas for the kids to play. On the one side there is a sandpit and old car (a real one) which still has a working steering wheel. This area is in good view from the deck/patio. On the other side are tyres and other goodies to make it fun and challenging.

The published coordinates are the closest we could get before the “cover” starts. Please read the hints so you know were to look. Don’t attract muggle attention to yourself as the venue could be very busy, and you may compromise the cache. The owners Debbie and Willem Prinsloo know of the cache, but won’t help you. At the time of our last maintenance visit to this cache, the staff also know of the cache. So when you get there please let them know that you are geocachers looking for the cache. If the staff member does not know what you are talking about, please ask to speak to Debbie. There is no need to purchase anything, unless of course you do actually want to get something of your own free will.

Come and discover this gem while you look for the cache. Please Note: Open from Wednesday to Sundays (breakfast and lunches) ONLY! On occasion they have a craft market on a Saturday.

Please no spoiler photographs - We don't want to spoil the challenge for the next geocacher.
