1994 wurde in einer ehemaligen Sandgrube bei Bad Arolsen-Bühle eine Sandsteinplatte mit den fossilen Abdrücken von Saurier-Fährten gefunden.
Die Sandsteine wurden in der Epoche des Mittleren Buntsandsteins (Detfurth-Folge) vorzugsweise als Sedimente großer Fluss-Systeme abgelagert.
Auf dem weichen Untergrund hinterließen die Saurier Fußeindrücke. Wurden diese Spuren schnell genug von neuen Ablagerungen überdeckt, war ihre Erhaltung und „Versteinerung“ möglich. Die fossilen Fährten bilden sich als „Negativ-Abdrücke“ auf der Unterseite der überlagernden Gesteinsplatte ab.
Im Wolfhager Stadtwald hat man Saurierspuren gefunden. Die hiesigen Chirotherien-Fährten gelten dabei als die ältesten weltweit.
Der Steinbruch ist im Eingangsbereich mit einer informativen Schautafel ausgestattet, die Besuchern Entstehung und Bedeutung der Fährten anschaulich erklärt.
Um den Cache loggen zu dürfen, bitte ich euch, nachfolgende Fragen zu beantworten:
1. Wie hieß der Superkontinent in der Buntsandstein-Zeit und zwischen welchen Breitengraden lag das heutige Mitteleuropa?
2. Wovon leitet sich die Namensgebung für die größeren Trittsiegel ab?
3. Nenne mindestens 3 Tierarten, die in dem Tümpel am Fuße der Steinbruchwand leben.
Es wäre schön, wenn ihr außerdem ein Foto von Euch mit eurem GPS vor dem Steinbruch einstellt.

In 1994 a sandstone with the fossil impressions of saurian tracks was found in a former sandy pit near Bad Arolsen-Bühle. The limestone layers were deposited during the development of bunter (so-called Detfurth-Sequence), predominantly as sediments of larger river systems.
On the soft subsoil the saurians left footprints. If these tracks from new depositions became quick enough covered, her preservation and "fossilization" was possible. The fossil tracks are reflected as "negative impressions" on the bottom side of the overlaying rock.
In the forest of Wolfhagen one has found such saurian tracks. Besides, the local tracks of "Chirotherien" are valid as the oldest ones worldwide.
The quarry is equipped with an informative diagramme at the entrance which explains origin and meaning of the tracks to visitors clearly.
To claim the cache please answer the following questions:
1. How was the supercontinent called in the epoche of bunter (so-called Detfurth-Sequence) and between which degrees of latitude did the today's central europe lay?
2. From what is the naming derived for the bigger footprints?
3. Name at least 3 animal species which live in the pond at the bottom of the stone quarry wall.
