John Smith, the agent maintaining this site, was captured and, we
suspect, eliminated by enemy agents three nights ago while on
assignment. A trusted source disclosed Smith was heading into a
wooded area near the boat launch when he was compromised. It
appears enemy agents were positioned for an ambush and likely
learned the purpose of his trip. The best we can determine, the
ELINT site remains secure. However, that cannot be established as
fact.
This highly compartmentalized program is thin on details. The
location and description of the equipment were only known to Smith.
We have very little to give you in the way of the site's location
besides some coordinates provided in Smith's dossier. Use extreme
caution as this was where Smith was captured.
Agent Smith's personal effects revealed some items that may or may
not be useful for this mission. Refer to the attachments for copies
of everything we found that could be related to this case. In
addition, he always had a hanger or two in his desk. Warning,
proceeding to the area during daylight will most certainly
compromise your mission.
Retrieving the cartridge may help identify Agent Smith's killers
and further protect Company assets. A second source suggests that
Smith was on to something big, possibly a double-agent within the
Company. We cannot stress how important it is that you succeed.
Good luck.
