Welcome to the top cache in all of New Jersey!
It's not the highest cache in the state, or the most difficult hide or the toughest terrain. But it IS the top geocache in the Garden State.
Some people hide caches for the intellectual or physical challenge, or to show others an interesting location. This one? Its sole raison d'etre is that it's the Northernmost cache in all of New Jersey. In fact, this cache is so far North, that it doesn't actually fit in any of NJ's Delorme grids - it's in the part of New Jersey that Delorme's cartographers forgot about. So I suppose that it's the one cache in New Jersey that you can't use in the Delorme Challenge.
But it's worth a smiley, a smiley with distinction - the Northernmost smiley in all of New Jersey!
Incidentally, the place across the street where you might find parking was an antique map museum, which sadly is no longer there. It was open only for a few hours each Wednesday, so I never got to do more than just peek in the windows. Now renovations are under way to turn this into a new restaurant with a curious rarity - you'll be able to sit at a bar and enjoy a meal across from your friends where you're in one state and your friends are in another! Don't even ask me whether NY or NJ collects state sales tax here. [EDIT: if your car is small enough you might be able to park across the road from the cache, but access to the full lot has more recently been blocked off. Regardless, you shouldn't have problems with parking here.]
