Geocache Description:

My First Cache! A total route of around 3.6km. Some parts will not be suitable for wheelchairs. A torch may prove useful on dull days. Some parts of the tour have thick tree cover in the summer which may cause you to search for a good GPS signal. The final cache is a 1.2km round trip and will involve a gentle climb, crossing styles and possible encounters with livestock. NOTE THE ITEM IN PART HAS BEEN RELOCATED TO OUTSIDE THE COOP STORE

This is a multiple tour around the 7th Century town of Eccleshall – Eccleshall lies in the Sow valley in one of the most picturesque areas of Staffordshire. For many centuries it was the market town for a large agricultural area and the country home of the Bishops of Lichfield. In the 19th Century it became even more prosperous as an important staging post for coaching traffic on the London to Chester route. This accounts for the high number of Pubs and Inns once reaching a total of 12 of which only 7 remain today. The many and varied shops in the town still cater for the needs of residents and visitors alike. Housing developments in recent years have helped to maintain the town’s vibrant community. Eccleshall is a well preserved market town with a large number of listed and architecturally significant buildings in the High Street. It is easily accessible and yet retains a charm that many other small towns have lost.
