Geocache Description:

Historical Puzzle and nice final location

Exactly 65 years ago, on June 6th, 1944 the allies landed in Normandy to start the liberation of Europe. This day is now know as D-Day.

On that day, close to 160,000 allied troops, American, British, Canadian, Free French and others landed on a 50 mile stretch of beach along the northern coast of Normandy.

Resistance was stiff especially on Omaha beach. About 10,000 allied soldiers were killed or injured on that day.

To find the coordinates of this cache, you will have to read about the history of D-Day and answer to the following questions.

Part 2: The cache

Now that you have the final coordinates. There is parking for a car or two and a trail head on the side of the road about 600 feet North of the cache, just after the creek crossing. In order to find the cache, follow the trail until you are about 75 feet from the cache at which point a tiny trail will lead you to the creek. Then, you will have to cross the creek (you will get wet), land on the rocky "beach" on the other side at the bottom of the cliff. Have a little thought for the soldiers at Omaha while you do that.. The cache is located at the bottom of the cliff. You will not need to climb much.

Enjoy!
