Das Zittauer Gebirge ist ein sehr kleines Mittelgebirge in Deutschland. Typisch für dieses Gebirge sind die Sandsteinfelsen, welche durch Bergspitzen aus vulkanischem Gestein überragt werden. Geologisch besonders interessant ist das kleine Gebiet der Mühlsteinbrüche. Der dortige Sandstein entstand in der Zeit, als die Dinosaurier ihre höchste Entwicklung erlebten. Durch späteren Vulkanismus wurde dieser Sandstein an zahlreichen Stellen thermischen Prozessen unterworfen. In der Folge dieser Erwärmung schmolzen die Sandkörner teilweise an. Dabei blieb zwar der Sandstein porös, verstärkte aber seine Härte und Abriebfestigkeit. An einigen Stellen erfolgte die anschließende Abkühlung sehr ungleichmäßig. Durch Spannungen innerhalb des Steines entstanden die für den Sandstein untypischen Säulen – die beiden „Sandsteinorgeln“. Starkes Interesse an diesem seltenen Naturschauspiel zeigte schon 1852 Alexander von Humboldt.

Žitavské pohorí je velice malé, stredne vysoké pohorí v Nemecku. Pro toto pohorí jsou typické pískovcové skály, které precnívají nad vrcholky hor z vulkanické horniny. Geologicky je velice zajímavá malá oblast s lomy na mlýnské kameny. Zdejší pískovec vznikl v dobe, kdy dinosauri byli na nejvyšším vývojovém stupni. Díky pozdejší vulkanické cinnosti byl tento pískovec podroben mnohým termickým procesum. Následkem tohoto zahrívání se pískovcová zrna cástecne roztavila, pricemž pískovec zustává pórovitý, je ale velice pevný a odolný proti oteru. Na urcitých místech docházelo k následnému ochlazování velice nepravidelne. Prostrednictvím napetí v kameni vznikly pro pískovec netypické sloupy - oba dva "pískovcové varhany". Velký zájem o tento vzácný úkaz projevil již v roce 1852 Alexander von Humboldt.

This sandstone at numerous places was subjected to thermal processes by later volcanism. Subsequently of this warming the grains of sand partially melted in. Indeed the sandstone remained porous, however, strengthened his hardness and abrasion-resistance. At some places the cooling followed very irregularly. The columns are atypical for the sandstone. Both "organs from sandstone" originated from strain within the stone. Strong interest in this rare spectacle of nature showed already in 1852 Alexander von Humboldt.

1.Wie ist die Form der Grundfläche der meisten Sandsteinsäulen?
2.Wie hoch sind die ersten Säulen der großen Orgel auf der Nordseite (Maßband!)?
Wir melden uns nur, wenn wir mit den Antworten nicht einverstanden sind.
Außerdem würden wir uns im Log über ein angehängtes Foto einer Orgel freuen.
