Geocache Description:

The Parish Church of All Saints', Shrub End

Photobucket

I just had to do a church micro for this particular church, because of its huge importance as the church where I got married!

Unfortunately, I can find very little historical information on this church. I will continue to investigate, but if anyone has any more information on this lovely Victorian church, please let me know. What I have discovered is that the new district church of All Saints' Shrub End, so called from the former Shrub wood, was built in 1845. Henry Jenkins, rector 1830-74, was instrumental in founding the church.

The tower contains a light ring of 6 cast in 1962 by Mears & Stainbank at the Whitechapel Foundry in London. The tenor weighs 4-1-14 cwt (490lbs or 222kg) and this makes them the 3rd lightest ringable bells in Essex. Only Hadstock (6 bells 2-3-13) and Rochford (8 bells 4-0-9) are lighter (thanks to McWomble for that bit of extra info!).

You will need to pick up a few clues to find the actual location of the cache, which can be found at
