Dearden Brook 2 (Fat Mummy has been Munching) is a geocache near to Edenfield in Lancashire.
The co-ordinates given are not for the cache site itself, to get to the cache you need to follow the below instructions.
Dearden Brook rises in the hills above Edenfield, and then joins the Irwell at Stubbins. It is a watercourse - that has seen the effects of man through its history - from the cotton mills to quarrying. However, the valley it runs down is a hidden gem.
The cache is located uphill to the route of an old tramway - which runs up the valley. A public footpath now runs along the route of the tramway.The tramway runs along the length of the valley - and is a reminder of the industry and toil that once took place near here. It is still possible to see the old sleepers and rails in places.
It is rough underfoot - so please be careful. Near to and at the cache site it is very rocky, with uneven ground and slippy rocks - so please be careful.
To get to the cache site - please go to the stone at the given co-ordinates. This is Fat Mummy's Belly.
You might be tempted to rub her belly for good luck.
Now proceed in a roughly westerly direction, you need to find a stone which has had a bite taken out of it by Fat Mummy. It is about 26 metres from the co-ordinates and slightly uphill. It is very rocky location - be careful and watch your footing.
From the location of the stone which has had the bite taken out of it - you can see 'Mummy'. The cache is where she is.
Please be careful approaching the cache - it is very rocky, with uneven ground.
It is an upland area - so please go prepared - with the appropriate footwear and clothing.
