Geocache Description:

The old neighborhood

In 2003, the city of Fairfield bought some homes with a Federal Grant to ease the recurring costs due to flooding. Thirteen homes were purchased by the city, razed, and the land converted to "green space".
The rules stated nothing permanent could be placed on the property (apparently so there would be no losses in the future) and the land used as a park.
In November 2003, at Thanksgiving, our house was evacuated. In January, 2004, the house was no more. All that remains is a brick pathway along the creek bank put in so kids could cut through to the school and ball fields behind. Our fence remains, but can hardly be seen any more due to the undergrowth.
This was our neighborhood. This was where our kids played and visited with friends up. This is no place, like home.
This is one of 3 caches in the area. You are looking for a very small cache. There is no room for anything in it besides the log, so bring something to sign the log.
First to find gets what's left of the house, if you can find it. The house, that is. There's nothing in the cache.
This is rated a 1.5 because a wheelchair would have difficulty getting to the cache.
Congrats to RUBBERCHICKENCLAN for FTF on 05/24/09

**It was a "hat-trick!**
