Du Xè siècle jusqu'à la Révolution Française, Abreschviller
appartenait au comté de Dabo, Seigneurie alsacienne .
Abreschviller n'a jamais fait partie du Duché de Lorraine.
Ce château féodal, à 450m d'altitude surveillait la vallée de la
Sarre Rouge .
Au XVI è siècle, il marquait la frontière entre les Bénédictins de
St Quirin et les Comtes de Dabo qui s'étaient convertis au
protestantisme.
Il servait de résidence secondaire aux Comtes de Dabo mais était
utilisé aussi de point d'appui militaire permettant de surveiller
les villages d'Abreschviller et de Voyer mal intégrés au Comté
.
Situé sur un rocher dont la base aurait servi d'abri à l'époque
préhistorique, les ruines encore visibles dateraient du XII-XIIIè
siècle sachant que le château serait de construction romaine.
From the 10th century to the Révolution Française, Abreschviller
belonged to the County of Dabo, Seignory of Alsace.
Abreschviller has never belonged to the Duchy of Lorraine.
This feudal castle, at 450m altitude kept a watch on the Red
Sarre's Valley.
In the 16th century, it was the borderline between the Bénédictins
of St Quirin and the Counts of Dabo who were converted to
Protestantism.
It was a second home for the Counts of Dabo but also a military
camp allowing to keep a watch on the Abreschviller and Voyer
Villages not intégrated to the County.
Located on a rock, the base would have been a shelter in the
prehistoric age.
The visibles ruins would date back to the 12-13th century whereas
the castle would have been built during the roman age.
