A peaceful place with remarkable geological formations, crystal clear sea water and unspoilt beaches, where the sand begins in the sea and reaches a height of 30 m.
Driving the main road from Rethymno - Spili to Agia Galini, you turn right at the 46th km, at the village of Nea Kria Vrisi, following the signs to Saktouria and Agios Pavlos. These 12 km are quite an adventurous road: it winds up the mountain offering great view, it gets narrower and narrower, especially through the village of Saktouria, and it gets minimum maintenance.
Drive to the very end of it and park at WP1 - N 35 06.186 E 024 33.824.
There are a couple of taverns and rent rooms there.
Then follow your GPS, though the trail is clear at first.
Mind that you DON'T need to climb any rocks, just go all around them. Also mind that in summertime, when the sun is high, it is really hot up there, so some strong sunscreen and some water are recommended.
After you find the cache go around and explore the place. It's worth the visit and the sunset is fascinating.
The cache is a plastic container wrapped in a plastic bag. It contains a logbook, a pen and several goodies to trade.
