This is a cache featuring a beautiful view of the river and skyline
as well as a unique puzzle to find the coordinates.
The puzzle is based on a spy coding technique where a strip of
leather with letters is wrapped around a tube that only the
intended recipient has. When wrapped, the letters can be read
straight across in order to form the message.
We have provided you with both the strip and the tube template for
this puzzle and you will need to print them both. They are located
near the bottom of this page. To download, right click and select
save.
The first attached image is the template for the strip. Cut out the
4 smaller strips and tape the edges together (tape 2 to 3, 4 to 5,
6 to 7). This will form one long strip.
To construct the tube, tape the left edge of the template to the
line creating a cylinder roughly similar to a paper towel tube.
Ideally, the extra space beyond the line should be underneath the
tube so that it stays out of the way.
To find the coordinates, wrap the strip around the tube so that the
strip does not overlap itself. You should be wrapping the strip at
a slight angle to accomplish this. When you have done so, the
correct coordinates will be readable in a straight line across the
tube. No other coordinates will form a straight line all the way
across. There is a blank space in between the two halves of the
coordinate set.
