Geocache Description:

Named after two items; a fantastic old children's book written by Peter Nickl and the item with which this cache is placed.

Located in Margaret River's lush Rotary Park where a number of historic items stand. There are BBQ's and toilets located nearby, and plenty of parking.

Old Kate was built in England in 1889 and shipped to Margaret River in 1890, where it was used until 1909. Eventually in 1917 it was sent to Wyndham where it worked until the early 1950s. It was transported back to the area in 1964 as a memorial to the pioneers of the timber industry in this district.

This park also features the start of a walking trail, which takes about 40 minutes to complete and there are a few small inclines along the way, but it is still an easy walk.

The cache is a black mint tin, with magnets attached. We hope you enjoy this one!
