About the "Mecsek kapu"(Mecsek Gate):
The "gate of the Mecsek" was built in 1936 based on Gyula Köszeghy's plans. It looks like a small castle: it has an entrance, a tower, and also arcades. It was designed to be the emblematic entrance to the Mecsek hill. This is one of the most beautiful symbols of the Mecsek. The most important tourist trails start from here.

A Mecsek kapuról röviden:
A Mecsek egyik legszebb emléke a Hunyadi János úton felfelé haladva, a Pálos templomtól vezetö müút jobb oldalán található Mecsek-kapu. Az árkádos, terméskő építményt Pécs városa építtette 1936-ban Köszeghy Gyula tervei alapján. A kapu olyan, mint egy kis vár. Bejárattal rendelkezik, bástyája van és árkádjai. Ezt az építményt szánta a város a Mecsek hegység jelképes bejáratának, ezért is kapta a "Mecsek kapu" nevet. A Mecsek-kaputól az országút szerpentinje kanyarogva vezet egyre magasabbra. Számos turistaút kiindulópontja ez a hely.
